Transport for London Award PassageWay New Real-Time Passenger Information (RTPI) Digital Signs Contract

PassageWay awarded new multi-year contract for real-time digital signs for Transport for London (TFL)

PassageWay Smart Digital Signs Awarded New Multi-Year Digital Sign Contract With Transport For London (TfL)

We're really delighted to announce that Transport for London (TfL) has signed a new multi-year agreement with PassageWay smart digital signs.

We've worked with TfL for a number of years, supporting and developing the award winning Digital Signs  platform that powers hundreds of real-time public information (RTPI) digital signs on display at many organisations premises using their own screens and at bus stations across London.

The PassageWay digital signs platform evolved from our work for TfL, enabling us to further innovate and work with UK and International transport authorities and cities everywhere real-time data allows.

As part of the new contract we will be migrating the TfL Digital Signs to the PassageWay smart digital signs platform, modernising the sign templates and building a platform for further growth. Working with TfL for the longer term will enable us to develop a better, more comprehensive PassageWay service and reciprocally for TfL to have a greater involvement in our product innovation roadmap.

About PassageWay Smart Digital Signs

Our vision is to connect people, places and communities to the real-time data surrounding them. Nudging the behavioural changes that benefit the individual, society and the environment. In particular we focus on real-time passenger information (RTPI), providing live visibility on local and onward travel options to encourage more customers onto the network. Alongside public transport availability data we have investigated other real-time data including crowd density, air quality, transport crowding, COVID advice, disabled slot availability, ride-shares and more.

Our mission is to leverage real-time data and web-technologies to easily transform any screen into a smart digital sign connected to and interpreting the live information surrounding it.

We wish to partner with cities and regions across the UK and internationally and are looking for commercial opportunities to deploy our platform within the public realm.

About The Transport for London Real-Time Passenger Information (RTPI) Digital Signs Platform

Integrating real-time public transport data, maps and iconography, TFL’s Digital Sign platform delivers custom RTPI digital signs for the capital. Generating demand and delivering smoother journeys and happier customers for TfL.

The Digital Sign platform captures live arrival data on more than 19,000 bus stops across London, processing hundreds of updates every second via TfL’s API feed. The Digital Sign platform takes this data, merges it with maps, modal stop iconography and third-party data to create elegant, custom real-time passenger information (RTPI) digital signs, uniquely tailored to each location and traveller profile.

The Digital Sign platform supports multiple sign types. For example, a bus station sign template enables large numbers of bus arrivals and departures to be displayed simultaneously alongside their related stop Id whilst a single stop sign displays just the upcoming arrivals for the routes applicable at that stop.
